Carlos Lopez-Cantera, the former lieutenant governor of Florida, has been unveiled as the president of the Hemp Industries Association of Florida (HIAF).
The nonprofit association was started to support the commercialization of industrial hemp in Florida, and the introduction of Cantera was done on September 19 at the end of a hemp road tour in Tallahassee.
Hemp Industries Association of Florida (HIAF) is the official state charter of the Hemp Industries Association which operates across the country. Hemp Industries Association has been working for 25 years to see that fair hemp laws are enacted and that a conducive business environment is created for industrial hemp.
During his time as HIAF president, Carlos Lopez-Cantera will be responsible for ensuring that HIAF remains the leading provider of education to stakeholders and the business community in Florida on matters of creating a sustainable and successful hemp industry in the state.
Cantera strongly believes that homegrown Florida hemp can play a major role in strengthening the state’s agricultural and economic health. He says that Florida is notable for its welcoming business environment, its ideal conditions for growing hemp, and is also gifted with agricultural and entrepreneurial talent.
According to Cantera, Florida is the perfect place for the exciting hemp industry to take shape and contribute to the revival of the agricultural sector of the state. Carlos Lopez-Cantera therefore pledged to introduce hemp growing on his family’s land once the regulatory framework of the state is completed. Cantera has land in Dade County.
David Hasenauer, the chairman of HIAF, says that Cantera has been a leading advocate for improving the competitive and business environment of Florida, and so the association is excited to benefit from his rich leadership experience since this will help to drive the industrial hemp industry forward both in Florida and across the country.
Hasenauer’s comments are in reference to Lopez-Cantera’s work as the 19th lieutenant governor of Florida between 2014 and 2019. Cantera made history as the first Hispanic to rise to the position of lieutenant governor in Florida, and he had also worked as the Majority Leader in the Florida State Assembly. Cantera’s rich experience also includes working as the property appraiser of Miami-Dade County.
Cantera is therefore widely expected to bring his rich experience and extensive networks to bear in the service of the hemp industry, particularly in as far as the objectives of the Hemp Industries Association of Florida are concerned.
Analysts believe that industry actors like TransCanna Holdings Inc. (CSE: TCAN) (FRA: TH8) and VPR Brands LP (OTCQB: VPRB) are pleased that the hemp industry in Florida is getting organized and involving influential people like Lopez-Cantera.
