US Hemp Authority Announces Official Certification Body

In a press release that was published last week, the United States Hemp Authority (USHA) revealed that FoodChain ID would be the exclusive certification agency for the USHA certification seal. FoodChain ID is a global leader in food safety, testing, and sustainability.

FoodChain ID is recognized worldwide because of its Non-GMO Project Verification labeling standards. They also provide services to the food, beverage, and ingredient industries, as well as the entire food supply chain. FoodChain ID is also a leader in USDA Organic certifications.

Organizations with the same goals have come together to form a coalition to provide quality standards and regulations for best practices in the hemp and CBD markets. The initiative was financed by the U.S. Hemp Roundtable, which was joined by the Hemp Industries Association, the U.S. Hemp Authority, testing laboratories, quality assessors, agronomists, and other leading firms in the hemp industry.

Hemp companies must prove that they can meet the stringent standards, pass an independent third-party audit, and enter into a licensing agreement before they can get the certified seal. The certification seal gives the company legitimacy in the ever-changing hemp and CBD markets in the United States.

The U.S. Hemp Authority President Marielle Weintraub said that through the hemp program third-party laboratory testing, the certification seals provided the truth to the consumers in labeling and transparency. Weintraub further noted that the hemp industry, through the U.S. Hemp Authority Certification Program, is working to ensure that manufacturers adhere to high standards, best practices, and self-regulation. This gives consumers an easy way to pinpoint hemp-derived products that they can trust. He also said that the coalition is fighting for transparency in the ingredients used in products and truth in product labeling.

Weintraub noted that the U.S. Hemp Authority updates and improves the program’s standards and best practices regularly. At the Natural Products Expo, which will be held on March 2, the U.S. Hemp Authority would hold public sessions to discuss those standards and provide hemp industry stakeholders with an update on their progress.

Mark Dabroski said that recently the use of hemp products in the food, beverage, and health and wellness industry is becoming increasingly popular. Dabroski is the senior Vice President of commercial services at FoodChain ID. He also noted that over the last 10 years, hemp seed oil and protein markets have increased significantly.

Dabroski further said that FoodChain ID’s series of tests and verification ensures that consumers are aware of the contents found in the food and hemp products they purchase since they are not illegal under federal law.

Analysts believe that hemp sector actors like Lexaria Bioscience Corp. (CSE: LXX) (OTCQX: LXRP) are pleased with the way the industry is shaping up and moving to impose strict product regulations even before federal authorities act in that direction.
