US Hemp Farmers Join Forces and Launch National Association

Last week, an announcement for the launch of a national hemp trade association for hemp farmers in Indianapolis was made. The trade association is referred to as United States Hemp Growers Association (USHGA). A diverse group of leaders founded the association.

The purpose of the association is to provide farmers with world-class education, resources for market development, and research. It would also provide them with networking opportunities while uniting farmers to ensure that they are actively involved in significant advocacy efforts.

The USHGA founding partners include U.S. Hemp Farming Alliance, First Crop, Hilo Seed, GenCanna, International Hemp Solutions, and Farm Journal. During the launch of the association, U.S. Hemp Farming Alliance, which has more than 300 members, will fold into USHGA.

A well-known agricultural and food leader who also holds executive roles at USDA, Hershey’s, and Organic Trade Association, Care Wilcox, will now serve as the inaugural executive director of USHGA. The USHGA will convene a meeting in San Antonio towards the end of February 2020 to secure founding partners as well as to select their first board of directors. The committee will be made up of active hemp farmers.

Wilcox said that she is happy to be part of this monumental moment in United States agriculture. She also said that it would be a pleasure to use her experience and expertise in the emerging hemp industry as they continue to develop the USHGA. Wilcox further noted that the leaders who have come together to form the association are forward thinkers and they want to exploit the potential in hemp as an agricultural commodity. They would also be in a position to understand how the hemp industry can contribute to the environment and production of sustainable products that benefit farmers and consumers.

The co-founder of First Crop, Michael Bowman, said that industrial hemp provides farmers and all rural America with a unique economic opportunity. He also said that he is excited that First Crop is a founding partner at USHGA. Bowman further noted that First Crop’s goal is to nurture the soil through regenerative farming practices, not for a single planting season but for future generations. And he believes that hemp will help achieve these goals.

Farmers interested in joining the association can apply to join the U.S. Hemp Growers Association on their website. Once they have joined, the farmers gain voting priviledges, eligibility to vie for the USHGA Board of Directors, official USHGA membership card, discount on educational Hemp Colleges, and access to research, content and grower resources on their website.

This initiative to bring all U.S. hemp farmers together is believed to be an idea that brings a smile on the faces of hemp companies like VPR Brands LP (OTCQB: VPRB) and SinglePoint Inc. (OTCQB: SING) since coming together means that quality issues and other industry challenges will be easier to address.
